Matt Fitzpatrick, Ph.D - University of Maryland Appalachian Research Lab

Matt Fitzpatrick is a Professor at the University of Maryland and published scholarly author (recent publications include: Contemporary Climate Analogs, and Climate Novelties Influence on Ecological Forecasts). Dr. Fitzpatrick earned his PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Tennessee; and his M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Montana. He is not only educated in the complexities of our rapidly changing climate, but he is also truly passionate about the work he does. Dr. Fitzpatrick specializes in spatial modeling of biodiversitey in response to global change, quantitative ecology, modeling the spread of invasive species, quantitative ecology and climate change mapping.

Climate change mapping is an incredible and concrete way to understand the progression of climate change in your own city. Dr. Fitzpatrick has created maps of the climate in major urban areas to show how each climate will change in 2080, in comparison to the climate of each area today. In many cases the 2080 climates will be novel.

Dr. Fitzpatrick is excited to engage with our listeners in a public forum and generate positive progress around climate change in the USA and around the world. He will be speaking with host, Bernice Butler on our Saturday 10/5 show. Tune in on Saturday 10/5, 3-4 pm CST, on iHeart Radio: KXFR 1190AM.
