Rachel Noble is the Mary and Watts Hill Jr. Distinguished Professor of Marine Sciences at UNC Chapel Hill. She has academic appointments in the Departments of Earth, Marine and Environmental Sciences and Environmental Sciences and Engineering. She has worked for over two decades on pathogens in water, including viruses and bacteria. She has devoted attention in recent years to the study of Vibrio bacteria, which are important pathogens of both humans and shellfish.
