Dr. Laalitha Surapaneni, MBBS, MPH is an assistant professor in the general internal medicine department at the University of Minnesota Medical School with a public health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She currently practices and teaches hospital medicine at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center. She was one of the frontline volunteer physicians in the state's first COVID-19 hospital in Minnesota. Dr.Surapaneni's area of interest is the impact of climate change on health. She is a member of Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate, an interprofessional health professional group in Minnesota working for clean climate policies, and spends her time away from the hospital engaged in science communication and legislative advocacy. Dr. Surapaneni serves on local and state agencies as a health expert and has given testimony to the Minnesota House on public health impacts of climate change.
