John Bailey is currently the Climate Advisor to the City of San Antonio through the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Cities Climate Challenge, which is a project of the Natural Resources Defense Council. He leads efforts to build community and political support for active transportation, public transit funding, vehicle electrification, and safer streets for pedestrians and bicyclists.
John has over two decades of experience as an advocate for sustainable and equitable communities at the national, state, and local levels. This includes directing legislative campaigns, building diverse coalitions, and communicating with the grassroots and the grasstops – all of which have required garnering support from and trust of leaders and community, and then galvanizing those partners to identify and advance shared interests.
John has a degree in Community Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and lives in San Antonio with his spouse and two teenaged children.
